Scholarship Helps Students achieve Nursing Degree

Greenville Technical College nursing student, Heidi Hutto, is a recipient of the Nadeen Duggan Barton Memorial Nursing Endowed Scholarship.  Like many students at GTC, Hutto is pursuing a second career in nursing later in life.  She hopes to graduate with an Associate Degree in Nursing this fall.  Hutto said,  "Going back to school later in life is challenging but I am excited about the contribution I can make to the nursing profession.  My hope is to provide primary care to families in a rural, medically under served area and to participate in medical mission trips."
Scholarships like the Nadeen Duggan Barton Memorial Nursing Endowed Scholarship help students afford to achieve their dreams and improve their lives.  Hutto wrote, "Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.  This scholarship significantly lessens my financial burden and allows me to focus on what is really important, learning the art and science of nursing."

The fund was established in Mrs. Barton's memory by her family to honor her devotion and professional expertise in the nursing field for many years.  If you wish to establish a scholarship or if you need information about the over 150 scholarships available to GTC students through Greenville Tech Foundation, please contact Butler Mullins at (864) 250-8497.
