Theater Program Students Benefit from Generosity of Greenville Couple
A couple, who retired to Greenville after challenging professional
lives in New York City and Florida, has established an endowed
scholarship fund that will assist theatre students at Greenville
Technical College (GTC). Hal Weiss and Lorraine Goldstein moved to
Greenville about ten years ago. Hal retired from a career in forensic
accounting and Lorraine from her career in hospital social work.
They have become very active in the Greenville arts community,
supporting a number of organizations with their time and gifts. Their
donations to GTC, totaling almost $42,000, have created an endowed
scholarship that will assist several theater students. They hope their
gift will have an impact on the students, and the students in turn, will
have a positive impact on their community.
Their hopes have begun to be fulfilled by last year's Hal Weiss and
Lorraine Goldstein Scholarship recipient, Alex Brady. Brady wrote, "My
life has been transformed and changed thanks to the theater and people
like you both! Thank you so much for giving people like me a chance to
show the world what I can accomplish."
