Scholarships Come to Life

I chose GTC because of the reputation they have.  The BAS program is a great fit for me because I’m able to continue working full-time during the day and complete my education at night.  I look forward to taking the next step in my career after completing my degree at Greenville Technical College.  I love the hands-on approach to the Advanced Manufacturing classes!  I am currently a mechanical designer at a local manufacturing facility.  The experience and degree that I gain from the B.A.S Advanced Manufacturing program will allow me to pursue other opportunities within the company.

I was relieved and thankful when I found out I was awarded a scholarship.    The scholarship will prevent me from having to borrow money in order to attend classes.

I am immensely grateful to have been selected as a recipient of this scholarship.  The thought of paying for college on top of supporting a family of 5 is extremely stressful.  The financial burden that can come with higher education has been removed from my shoulders because of this generosity.  Thank you for investing in my future!

– Matthew.

My biggest obstacle has been transitioning from high school to college by changing my mindset and prioritizing my future. I really appreciate all the financial support because it is helping me reach my overall goal of becoming a Mechanical Engineer.

If I had to give one word to describe myself, I would say growing because I’m constantly trying to become a better person and improve my social skills by interacting with different people and trying to learn about different cultures. I’m also trying to grow to become more independent by making more choices on my own and learning from making the wrong choices.

– Tyron.

I chose to start attending GTC because I felt inspired to pursue a professional career and contribute in a significant way to humanity. As a nontraditional student, out of school for 3 years, attending GTC was a huge blessing. I did not think I was capable of academic success. But I fell in love with all of my classes at GTC and was constantly inspired by my teachers to keep growing.

When I first started at GTC, I thought I was furthering my education to improve my job prospects and myself. Over my time in college, I have realized I have chosen to further my education to further society, and the world. And also, to honor my grandmother.

The value of this award is more to me that the monetary figure. Working hard, and putting everything on the line to go after aspirations can be a scary venture. But, the act of receiving this aid comforts me that there is support on my journey and I am so grateful to receive this generosity of not just money, but solidarity.
